If you wish to buy a genuine remote control, contact the authorized service center, or authorized dealer. If you wish to buy a universal remote control, you should first make sure about the number of digits in the set-up code, for the device you have. For example: some brand sets will have four digits in its set-up code, some of them will have three digits, and so on. There are devices that need even a single digit or 2 digit or 5 digit codes. Check how many digits code your device has to synchronize with. It is so easy to check, just enter any digit from your remote control, when the set asks for code. See, if you're entering Zeros, repeatedly, when the set asks code, and the set allows you to enter only 3 Zeros, means, the set-up code to your set should have Three Digits one.
Now visit the sites I've linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list, and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check it, and find out which brand remote control have setup codes to your device, and buy that one according to availability. Keep in mind; when you buy a universal remote control, it will have setup code list, and setup procedure along with its catalogue. Never accept a remote control, with out this document. See the sites by "Mosaic" view; which will make surf easy.

Direct Code Entry
Code Search
If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your
brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by
following these steps.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes
under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow
the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code
Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the
steps above for Code Search.
