I could not detect any sort of pause. I checked the power supplies and found no visibly defective capacitors. On the main Power CBA( AC cord goes to it) Plug PP1 and PP2 had 1.1 volts between the two wires in each plug. Plug PP3 had 0 volts between those 2. This seems odd as it looks like the next power board is feed by these two cables.

I forgot to mention that I found no open fuses. there are 4 I identified on the above mentioned power board. I didn't see any on the secondary power cba. The one fuse had to be measured from the solder side as it was a button type. Also this TV has no plugs labelled to indicate what voltages there should be when working properly.

If it was my own, I'd Possibly go for component level repair, but not witout service literature also. If it is sure to be the power CBA I've been talking about, the one the AC cord feeds, I copied down the numbers from it. The following numbers were within a outlined rectangle on this CBA: RDENCA246WJQZ

MPF3930 On an white sticker within this area: CA8603333A and outside the rectangle : PCPF0209

Don't know which, orif any of these are part numbers. Go ahead and locate me a replacement.

Does the blinking pause for a short time after blinking a certain number of times? Just checking whether the self-test diagnosis is able to detect the source of the problem.

It is definitely a power supply problem most likely caused by a short. I would suggest that you start by testing the 10A fuse(main fuse that looks like a glass tube) and the pico fuses in this circuit. One of our experts has also written a brilliant guide that will help you nail the problem in no time. I would strongly recommend that you test the 5V standby line

All the above diagnosis I have mentioned are only if you want to go for a component level repair. If it all sounds complicated to you then you are better off replacing the power supply. I can find you a replacement .

SOURCE: Sharp 60" LCD Model LC-65D64U.

This is a classic "Hic-upping" switchmode power supply problem. The protection circuitry inside the SMPSU, has sensed a severe potential problem, and is attempting the shutting of the set, down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both.
This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, (This set should be removed from the Power),
What is happening is the internal "Fault" that is causing the Protection Circuitry , to detect the problem and attempt to shut down the set, keeps restarting the set, because as soon as it shuts down, the "Faulty" component(s) cool down?, and the "Fault" ostensibly "Clears" so the PSU starts up again, only for the component(s) to heat up, whatever, again and fail, so it shuts down, and if left unattended, this would continue on until the part eventually failed. As related this is called a "Hic-upping Power Supply". Any fault that involves the power supply is usually quite serious, and needs a professional, usually, unless one is familiar with servicing current day, televisions.
And in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center. Now, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their "Local" or a, "Head Office" Sharp, in your case. Ask them, for a referral to an authorised servicing center, where you ask for a "Quote". Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement.
The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. There are many, many, many reasons that display this symptom, one must work through the troubleshooting steps to isolate and identify, the Cause and repair that and any damage done.

OK well what has happened i suspect, is that your set has been "Spiked" from a power disturbance, and this has damaged either the PSU, or an internal high voltage component, or both, and now, the Protection Circuitry in the SMPS unit, is "Sensing" a potential "Catastrophic fault", that may cause a fire an explosion or both, and accordingly the set MUST be shut down, so the protection circuitry does exactly that.
Your best bet, is to contact a local or head office of the TV's manufacturer, and ask them for a referral to an authorised servicing center. When contact is made with them, ask for a "Quote" for the repair, before allowing any repair work to be undertaken. This then at least will give you an idea as to costings and you can then make an informed decision as to repair or replace, as often these days i find in my shop anyway, many repairs can be very expensive, and often it would be better putting any monies that would have been spent on repair towards a NEW unit with a warranty.
