My tv has got lines running up and down the screen in the color green. it just happened abruptly. i was playing a game and the screen just changed to the green lines. i could still see everything in the background.

I've seen a similar looking problem and it is a bad LCD panel. It will show even on a non-used input, and will show through the menu screen and the screen saver, also. Sharp's LCD panels are very expensive,too. Over 4000 at encompassparts.
