Well, in most calculators, the action of taking out the backup battery practically clears the whole thing. Memory, everything. I myself have a Ti-89 and have not yet experienced this problem, but I have on an older Ti-82 and removed the backup battery and the whole thing is dead now, or at least nothing happens when I turn it on, even after replacing the batteries again. If you still have the manual, I would check out the troubleshooting. If you don't have it, try to find it online. And if you have done both of these things, try getting hold of technical support through Texas Instruments.
