Hi,

Logarithms in base 10 :Common logarithms

The calculator has a key labeled [LOG]. It allows you to calculate the common logarithms (logarithms in base 10).
To calculate the common logarithm of a (positive) number you type in the number, press the [LOG] key .
Ex: 15.32 [LOG][=] gives 1.1852558765

Logarithms in base e : Natural logarithms

The calculator has a key labeled [LN]. It allows you to calculate the natural logarithms of positive numbers.
Ex: natural log of 15.32 is entered as
15.32 [LN] gives 2.729159164

The antilog functions are the 2nd functions of the log functions on the top row of the keyboard.

To calculate the natural antilog of 3.1, press 3 . 1 2nd LN
To calculate the common antilog of 3.1, press 3 . 1 2nd LOG

I try to graph an absolute value on my Ti 89 and I put the inequality in right but when I go to graph it my calculator says undefined variable.

If you want to graph the absolute value of a function, feed the function to the absolute value ie graph y= abs(f(x)). The calculator will take care of it. See screen captures where I draw the function y1=x^3-5x^2-3 and y2='x^3-5x^2-3'. On the first graph the function is represented and on the second the function and its absolute value.

The calculator knows how to calculate the absolute value of an expression. The name of the command is abs(

Cant find the Log function on the EL 733A

There is no common logarithm function on this calculator. However, you can calculate it easily enough using the natural logarithm function (ln). The log of x is equal to ln(x) / ln(10). In words, calculate the log of a number by calculating its ln then dividing by ln of ten.

There's a cube root function as the fourth item in the MATH menu. The fifth item is a general root function.

My calculator wont graph more than one function at a time, how can i fix that?

Hi Lexy,
Chances are, your calculator has a program called "Transfrm" on it that is preventing the calculator from graphing more than one function at a time. Luckily this is easily remedied.

1) Turn calculator on and press the "APPS" key.
2) Scroll down (towards the bottom of the list) and find the "Transfrm" program.
3) With the program highlighted, press the "Enter" key.
4) Highlight the "Uninstall" option and press "Enter".

Once the program is uninstalled, the graphing function of the calculator should be working correctly, allowing you to graph more than one function at a time.

How to solve for the trigonometric functions in the casio scientific calculator?

Press the relevant function key [SIN],[COS],[TAN] followed by the angle value.
For inverse trigonometric functions [SIN^-1], COS^-1], or [TAN^-1], Press [SHIFT][SIN], [SHIFT][COS], or [SHIFT][TAN].
For other functions
sec(x)=1/cos(x)
csc(x)=1/sin(x)
cot(x)=1/tan(x)

When calculating trigonometric functions one must make sure that the angle unit the calculator is using is the correct one.

I get syntax error on every function - no matter what i do...any ideas? is the calculator just broken?

If it can complain about your syntax, then it is still working properly.
For certain functions you enter the number, press the function key and you get the answer.
For other functions, you press the function key, then the number, and after that the equal sign to get the result.

Which functions work one way and which the other way? You will find the answer in the manual that shipped with the calculator. If you no longer have it, post a comment to this thread and I will give you the link. Or you can go to education.ti.com >Downloads>Guides>Scientific calculators and find the one for your calculator. Download it and read the examples.

Does the fx-260 SOLAR do exponential calculations?

Hello,
Yes it does. All scientific calculators do logs, power, roots, exponential, trigonometric functions. Most do also hyperbolic and inverse hyperbolic functions.
