We like to turn the volume to mute sometimes and view the captions while on mute. However, we can only view captions with the volume on. There is a list of CC options but only 2 are able to be selected and they do not do what we want
Most sets do not automatically go CC when Mute is pressed--it's a feature on some. They are either on or off and the systems are different for old SD (white on black) and for new digital and HD (control colors, font, and size). I wouldn't want a mute indicator and CC but I do have CC on all the time--yellow on transparent. The NTSC-analog had the captions encoded on a video line (21 22 or 23?). ATSC does not have those wasted off-picture lines and sends it separately. -Ken
