Everytime I turn the camera off and then back on it asks me to select the Language, Home City, DST, Date Style, Date and Time. It also resets all of the other settings. After I set everything and turn it off, the same thing happens again. It has been fine this whole time and just started happening last week. Any idea why or what to do to fix it?

PROCEDURE
1. Initialize the system.
a) Enter the TEST mode.
b) Select "3:ROM UPDATE" and press SET button.
c) Next, select "5:SYSTEM INITIAL" and press SET button.
d) The following message appears.
SYSTEM INITIALIZE
START ...
PUSH OK KEY?
e) Press SET button and System is initialized.
"SUCCESS !" appears on the monitor.
2. Write firmware.
Update the firmware version"
Write the firmware.
If the TEST mode boots automatically, change "USB TCC ON" to "USB TCC OFF".

Never perform the menu items unless otherwise instructed. Doing so may cause destruction of the data inside, which will make the camera unusable.
To boot the test mode:
1. While firmly pressing down both [BS], [PW ON] and [UPPER], turn the power on.
2. After the version appears, press buttons in the order of [DOWN], [DOWN], [BS] and [MENU] in 0.5
second. The diagnostic menu appears.:
1 :VERSION I N F O
2 : U S B T C C T E S T
3 :ROM UPDATE
4 : L A S T MEMORY
5 :FORMAT

I've had the exact same problem for months now and i was playing around with it just then and i fixed it!
all i did was go into menu and then into set up, the very last option here is reset. after you say yes to resetting it will ask you to set the time and date then once you do this you are free to turn the camera on an off without it asking what language you speak :)
I had this problem too and following the instructions in Solution 2 (emilyjreece), it seems to have fixed it. I hit the menu button, went to the Set-Up tab, hit Reset and then Reset again.
Turning the camera off, then back on, it asked for the date (not location this time) and now it seems fine.
Haven't had the problem since.

1. download this file EX-Z70_101.exe.
2. open new folder under C:
3. exract it
4.Connect your camera to computer through USB cable or sdcard
5. Copy EX-Z70.bin file to camera memory or card
6. Hold down the [MENU] button as you press the [POWER] button to turn on the camera. Keep the [MENU] button depressed until the message "PROGRAM UPDATE" appears on the monitor screen
7. hit YES
8. wait when its complete
9.After installation is complete, turn off the camera.
10. First power on setup date and time
11. Enjoy

I thought I ruined my Casio camera after continuous use and dropping it over the past 5 years. Never had a problem until I charged the battery in another country using an adapter. After charging the battery I encountered this very problem.
1. Remove the SD card
2. Turn on the camera
3. Set the location, date, and time
4. Take a photo, any photo will do (leave the camera on)

I've had the same problem for about 2 months. Seeing as how I was desperate to fix my camera, I followed the instructions below...and as warned....I now get a "system error" whenever I try to turn it on. So...my camera is screwed.
So...I recommend unless you have someone who knows something about cameras with you...don't follow these instructions.
I have the same problem - happened about 2 months after I bought it, so I sent it for warranty repair. It was fixed, but behold, about 4 months later, it's doing it again! I HATE CASIO! I've only had this camera less than a year, and I'm ready to ditch it! I'm afraid to try the solution below, since the camera still works, it's just to get thru the menus, all my pictures are dated 1/1/2006 with 00:00 as the time (annoying).
