My computer automatically detects the printer and it says there is an error downloading program.When i go to the contol panel and try to add printer it says print spooler service isnt running what can i do to get the printer to work.
1. Be ready to answer a couple of questions then open a 2nd browser window.
2. Click this link http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi
3. answer the questions then download this driver file.
4. disconnect the printer
4a. If you have Windows, go to "Control Panel" - "Add or Remove programs". Delete all things Lexmark
4b. go to "Start" then "Printers and Faxes". Delete the printer.
5. Reboot
6. Connect the printer and follow the prompts.
Hopefully this will work. During set up, you may have to tell the "Wizard" where to look for the Driver File. Hit "Browse" then show the path to the Driver file. If you have trouble with this part, just ask for more clarification.
This should work...good Luck!
If the printer came with software, install the software first, then plug up the printer and let it find it. That SHOULD solve the problem.
Another solution is to Select the Printer from a list instead of letting windows auto-detect it.
